American Hairless Terrier

The American Hairless Terrier is a sharp, inquisitive, and active dog. It comes in both hairless and coated varieties.

The hairless version has eyebrows and whiskers and no fur on its body. Whereas, the coated variation has a very thin coat of sleek, shiny hair.

It weighs between 12 and 24 lbs and can grow as tall as 12 to 16 inches. In addition, it has dark brown, amber, hazel, or blue eyes. Its ears are V-shaped and erect.

The American Hairless Terrier is easy to train and obedient. They make an excellent watchdog. Its compact size makes it an ideal choice for apartment dwellers.

 

Ecuadorian Hairless Dog

It is one of the rarest hairless dog breeds. As the name suggests, it originated in Ecuador. This breed is a crossbreed between Xolo and the Peruvian hairless dog. As a result, it shares similar characteristics to the parent breeds.

This breed has absolutely no hair on its body. It grows to a height of 15 to 18 inches.
Also, it is a hunter’s breed, so the hunting drive runs deep. However, it is also affectionate, playful, and quite the cuddlier.

The Peruvian Inca Orchid is an agile sighthound. As you can guess, it originated in Peru. The breed has two varieties—hairless and coated. It comes in three sizes-small, medium, and large.

The smallest Peruvian Inca Orchid stands at 10 inches tall, while the largest grows to about 26 inches. They can either have solid-colored or spotty skin with non-pigmented areas.

Coated and hairless varieties may be born in the same litter. The coated variety is rarer. This dog weighs between 8.5-17.5 lbs and 26.5-55 lbs.

Moreover, this dog is fast and strong. As it is very sharp and alert, it also makes an excellent watchdog.

This dog is affectionate. However, it requires supervision around kids and small animals. They tend to see smaller animals as prey.

Jonangi

The Jonangi is an Indian breed that was originally bred by duck herders. Jonangis are fawn, black or white-colored. They have sport light brown and chocolate patches. Also, they vary drastically, even within the same litter.

The Xoloitzcuintli is also called the Mexican Hairless. It is one of the first breeds that stepped into North America. In addition, it weighs between 10 and 50 lbs and can live up to 14 to 20 years. It comes in three sizes—small, medium, and large.

Xolo is a primitive breed with a strong drive to chase other animals. It has an assertive and protective nature. The Xolo breed is predatory, stubborn, and impulsive. It attacks when it senses danger.

Hairless Khala

There are two types of hairless khalas the Hairless Khala Medio and the Hairless Khala Grande. It grows to a height between 14 and 20 inches and its weight varies between 15 and 30 lbs. They are loving and docile. This breed can be aloof and unfriendly with strangers, so it must be socialized well.

The Abyssinian Sand Terrier

Abyssinian Sand Terrier originated from Africa. Due to its hairless appearance, this breed never became popular in Britain.

It is usually grey colored with dull pinkish blotches on the body and weighs between 21 and 39 lbs. In addition, it grows to a height of 15.5 to 20.5 inches. The Abyssinian Sand Terrier’s lifespan is between 12 and 15 years.

Abyssinian Sand Terriers are fearless and protective. They will guard you and your property well. This affectionate dog is eager to please its owners. The breed gets along well with children and other pets.

Argentine Pila Dog

The history of the Argentina Pila Dog goes back as far as 3,000 years. It comes in three sizes-small, medium, or large. They grow between 9 and 22 inches tall.
